ATKINS OIL & GAS ENGINEERING  (1986–88)
PROJECT ENGINEER

Responsible for setting up computer databases at Conoco's Southern North Sea operations headquarters at Mablethorpe, Lincolnshire. Extensive databases were prepared to enable Conoco to be aware of platform status at all times and so that the feasibility of proposed modifications could be determined.

Contributed to the development of a probabilistic pipelines inspection strategy for Conoco.

JOHN BROWN OFFSHORE STRUCTURES (1984–86)
DESIGN ENGINEER

Responsible for design of parts of deep-water platform structures including Shell Eider and Britoil Clyde.

Made extensive use of computer aided design.

Set up computer software for general use throughout the company.

PETRO-MARINE ENGINEERING (1981–84)
DESIGN ENGINEER

Performed an extensive range of computer analyses for the central production platform of the Morecambe Bay Gas Field Development project in order to verify its strength and resilience during the fabrication, tow-out, launch and in-service phases.

HARRIS & SUTHERLAND (1978–81)
DESIGN ENGINEER
